Weekend Puzzle #233

We have randomly selected a winner from all entries to the Kindle Fire contest! Congrats to Jessica!

This weekend we continue our Nancy Drew Marathon by playing Secret of the Scarlet Hand. Join us as we play the first Nancy Drew game that Sonny Joon's doodles appeared in, which was over 11 years ago!

On a random note, we have some fan photos to share with you! This is Ashley, a huge Nancy Drew fan who had her picture taken with Nancy Drew books!

And here's your weekend puzzle, an alternative code:

34.83.117.114.112.114.105.115.101.33.32.89.111.117.
114.32.108.105.102.101.32.105.115.32.100.97.110.103.
101.114.111.117.115.32.110.111.119.33.34.

We also have a birthday!

If Sonny met Nancy...

One of our fans, Jamie, posted her fan art to our Facebook page, check it out!

This is a drawing of Sonny and Nancy, where Sonny reacts towards Henrik's comment "If he wasn't losing paperwork, or setting off the fire alarm, he was cornering our visitors with his theory that the Maya were abducted by aliens."

 Nice work, Jamie!

If you haven't played Secret of the Scarlet Hand (game #6), now is the time to get it for this upcoming weekend's marathon.

Or if you want a really good deal on The Captive Curse, we have a sale going on now because of April Fool's day. (Lucas is the prankster in this game!)

Also, tomorrow is the last day to vote on the best Nancy Drew game ever on our Facebook page. We are already in the semi-finals round. Woot!

Also, later tomorrow the Message Boards will be back up. When they are, don't panic! I will post here and on the boards what changes incurred.

Searching for Medallions

Did anyone play Treasure in the Royal Tower this weekend? I sure did for our first marathon in preparation for The Shattered Medallion! Somethings that I noticed for the first time: Professor Hotchkiss never tipped Nancy for all the work she did! Also, even though I know where everything is in Wickford Castle, it would have sure been nice to have a map someplace to refer to...but then, that would defeat the purpose of exploring and running into (and introducing ourselves to) dead ends.

Next week's marathon: Secret of the Scarlet Hand, for Sonny Joon reasons.

Check out this fan art that Faylene emailed to us! It's Sonny Joon!

For those of you who were anxious about the Nancy Drew madness on Facebook, I did not update the brackets chart these past few days because I was not in the office over the weekend. No worries, I was still counting the votes at 1:00pm each day! The chart is currently up-to-date now.

Looks like a few of you solved the weekend puzzle! Good thing it was an easy one, because the message boards are still down and you can't communicate with each other about it just yet. It is a [rail fence] cipher, but the moon walk clue meant for you to count backwards. The answer is [Fate moves in odd ways...like a spider!] which is a direct quote from The Shattered Medallion.

MED Fan Art - Box Covers

For the past several months I have seen several fan art for The Shattered Medallion, particularly for the cover art (this is from before we revealed our official art). I wanted to show you what our fans were thinking and how they creatively perceived the game to be, using only the knowledge they had from the teaser video. The last art design below was made after we revealed the desktop icon.

Do you have any fan art you would like to share? (Perhaps of Sonny Joon?) Post them to our Facebook wall! That's where I see a lot of art come in. Perhaps I will feature your lovely work here on the blog in the future...

Weekend Puzzle #231

It's St. Patrick's Weekend! We have a BIG sale happening right now all the way through Monday, check it out and shop here.

Also, with the reveal of the desktop icon, our fan Karina sketched out a lovely medallion (unshattered) and shared it with us!

Aaaaaaaand here's your weekend puzzle:

Don't forget about the Nancy Drew Madness game duels on Facebook. Visit each day to "vote" on your favorite game!

"The Captive Curse" Fans

Remember this fan here who made jewelry and a drawing of The Captive Curse? It turns out that she had made two of the necklaces...and sent me one with a lovely fan letter! Check it out!

I was SUPER excited to receive this amazing gift, and instantly showed it off to fellow team members and put it on. I also realized that I was wearing the Monster T-shirt from the shop (which is also available in our very own merchandise store if you so desire to get one). Here's my picture of excitement:

This is really inspiring! If any of you work on Nancy Drew art or see a location that looks like a Nancy Drew location, would you take a picture of it and share it with us? Post the pictures onto our Facebook wall!

Ice Cream Moments

We shared this Nancy Drew moment the other day:

Is it just me, or do you all like to try (as Nancy) every single flavor and food item that is available to you in the games? Sometimes there are rewards for you if you do... like in Alibi in Ashes. Where other games, it can be a punishment to eat too much of everything (like the Koko Kringle bars in Legend of the Crystal Skull).

Yeah. I've got ice cream on my mind. I wish there were an ice cream place just like Scoop in real life.

Are you creative with coming up with photo captions? Head over to Facebook and participate in our Facebook Caption Contest!

Also, check this out below! One of our big fans, Amy Christine, sent in some fan art, showing off some love for Sonny Joon!

While the Fans Wait...

While many of our awesome fans eagerly await the arrival of our next game, Nancy Drew: The Shattered Medallion, they keep themselves busy with other Nancy Drew-related things.

This fan on Tumblr posted a video of herself playing the old Nancy Drew theme song on her accordion! Check it out here.

Another fan sent in art of The Silent Spy and The Captive Curse:

What have you been up to as you eagerly await the next game? Have you replayed any older mysteries?

Fan letter + GTH News

To show her thanks for winning the cookie contest last year, Rozanna sent us some fan mail. Only this fan mail is really creative: she used magazine clippings and Her Interactive-themed pictures to decorate with! Check it out:

Also, we just shared the date for when we are releasing Ghost of Thornton Hall for the iPad!

Computer Hack

So I found this today...

I don't know if I should be mad or thrilled that a certain someone whom I am a HUGE fan of hacked into my computer and took over my work. I suppose I should be more worried about him leaking information that he *could* have found opened on my computer... we'll see. I'll have to keep a close eye on any of our secrets getting out too soon.

**Edited** Too late. He must have uploaded all of the art from the Flying Cow Productions up to the merchandise store for me. Well, thanks! That saved me a bit of time...even though these images are up a bit early...

Hmm.. on another distracted note...I wonder if I can film anything going on in the office to make videos for later...?

Oh! We had a fan send in some art, so we have to share it with you. The excitement for The Silent Spy is still evident!

Musical Fans

Hey all, I was out sick yesterday. :( But now I'm back a ready to dive into the latest Nancy Drew game we are currently working on.

While I get to see everything and play the game as we work on it, just about all of you are eagerly awaiting more information. Don't worry, we will hide clues here and there... and of course tease you as we go. Because we like to keep secrets. And... well... we also like to reveal our secrets, too! All in good time.

As many of our fans wait, they are enjoying the latest mystery and everything about it: The Silent Spy. Check out Samantha's fan video below. If you were not aware, you get a free digital copy of the sheet music to "Kate's Theme" track when you purchase The Silent Spy soundtrack. Samantha teaches you how to play it on the piano here:

Thanks for sharing this Samantha! This is my favorite track and someday would like to play this myself!

Today's Nancy Drew Fans

No one is ever too old for Nancy Drew! I often see fans admit their age and then feel guilty for being a Nancy Drew fan. It's like they think they are too old for Nancy Drew or something, or that the Nancy Drew games are for young girls.

I beg to differ. :)
Our games are rated E or E10+ because they are "appropriate" for all ages to view, and when we put "for ages 10 and up" on the box it's because of the difficulty level, not because it is meant only for teenagers.

We try to appeal to the general Nancy Drew fan, trying our very best to stay true to the qualities of Nancy from the 1930s as well as keep Nancy updated and fun for today. Nancy Drew is not limited to players' ages. Many moms and grandmothers grew up with Nancy Drew books, and now their daughters are playing the games. These daughters are many different ages. However, you may be amazed at how old a majority of our players are!

I'm seeing waaaaay more fans in the age range of 20-30-years-old than another age group of fans. (This range includes me, too.) They are everywhere; on Facebook, the message boards, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, emails, and also among people around me!

This makes me proud to be a Nancy Drew fan! These ladies (and men) know how much fun and challenging the games are, how rich the story and characters are, and they won't stop playing because they may think that Nancy is for little kids. GO FANS!! Playing as Nancy Drew is totally fun! Nothing stops us from solving a mystery!

Weekend Puzzle #225

Some of us in the office are big football fans and are really excited for our big game tomorrow. It reminded me of how Nancy is also a fan of football in the books, especially since Ned plays at Emerson College. Go Emerson!!

And here's your weekend puzzle:

Also, we have a few important birthdays to announce!

Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Arrival of 2014!

We are back from our Christmas/New Year holiday break! I hope everyone had an excellent Christmas and enjoyed lots of time with family and friends, along with many tasty treats! (I sure did, and thank you for the well-wishes, too!) Here's a special greeting from us to you:

What new and exciting things do you wish for Nancy this year? Any places you want her to visit? Anything you'd like her to do? Perhaps a few characters you'd like her to meet? (~.^)

I can already see lots of potentially exciting things that will be happening this year, and some will come sooner than you think, too! (Especially for the hard-core fan community).

Also, the winner for the laptop contest was randomly selected from all participating entries. Thanks everyone for participating!

Looks like we had several birthday requests come in while we were out of the office!

Sonny Cookies

We've been looking at all of the Cookie Contest Entries that came in, and now we are sorting them. By the end of the day tomorrow (Friday) we will have chosen our winners and will be posting the Cookie Cookbook in pdf form with all the entries submitted. This way, everyone can check out the cookies, and even make some yourself!

I wanted to point out this particular submission that made me laugh. I loved it! This is just the recipe part, but it screams "Sonny Joon" all over!

We have a birthday!

Fan Letters and Items for Fans

Today I received a wonderful letter from a fan named Nina. I was very excited to receive it! The envelope had stickers (some were 3D!) and crayon art, and inside were fan doodles and many references to Nancy Drew games! I LOVED it! Check it out:

Also, for everyone who sent in fan mail to me this year and hadn't received anything in return, I will be sending you a letter in return. (Even if you mailed me 12 months ago...!)

Randomness: Here are all those medallion designs that you can create in the merchandise store! The ceramic ornaments (smooth and flat) are the closest thing to the real deal! Add these to your ultimate Nancy Drew collection!

Cookies Excitement!

Yesterday and today we started to receive a few cookie entries to our Cookie Contest! I'm getting super excited, too, and I'm totally nerding out right now. Why? Because our fans are SO creative! We had to share a few with you that came in today.

Carlahna designed some cookies inspired by Shadow at the Water's Edge: Sudoku puzzle, desktop icon flower, and the donut phone charm!

Rozanna entered a chocolate and marshmallow cookie inspired by S'mores in honor of The Secret of Shadow Ranch. Yum!

Have you started to make any cookies to enter for the contest?

Outside of the Games

I love seeing game references in real life, such as nautical flags, antique clocks, identifying cloud names and so on. Experiencing game sequences is just as exciting, like trying gumbo, dressing up as Samantha Quick from VEN, or actually discovering a real-life secret compartment in a desk. I'm always looking for game elements out in the real world.

Here are a few things outside of the games:

~Lauren dressed up as Nancy Drew for Halloween!~

~Another fan has started a merchandise collection surrounding game elements~

~I found a jam cookie from The Silent Spy! It was delicious!~

Have you found some Nancy Drew things out in the real world?

Also, do you remember this post from June? I'll reveal the secrets to what we were doing up there, soon.

Charlotte on Monday

Yesterday was daylight savings, and we switched our clocks backwards an hour. I always get confused which way the light switches... does the sun stay up longer or go down sooner? Turns out the sun sets earlier in the winter. It's been really dark outside for a few hours already, it sort of feels like The Captive Curse outside, with the foliage and darkness.

Speaking of darkness, some fans dressed up as ghost Charlotte from Ghost of Thornton Hall this last Halloween! Check them out!

It appears as though the weekend puzzle has been left unsolved. I have given you this type of puzzle before, but this time I left out that little hint to nudge you in the right direction, just to make it harder. (I'm so mean!) Here's that hint: chances are, you may have forgotten that letters and numbers once shared the same space. Today's technology has changed since Jake had locker troubles.

We have another birthday!
