First of all, don't forget about the Facebook Caption Contest that is still going on until end of day Monday.

Secondly, the official soundtrack for The Shattered Medallion is now available here to purchase and download!

Thirdly, if there are some mysteries you have not yet solved, now is the time to play those missing titles before The Shattered Medallion releases. We are having a big sale on all digital downloads this Easter weekend! (Shop here.)

And last but not least, here's your weekend puzzle!

Weekend Puzzle #227

It's a beautiful day here at Her Interactive. The sky is blue, the sun is out, it's freezing cold, and the geese are ice skating on the slough.

During lunch today we played board games, as we often do on Fridays. When we get back to our desks, we are busy working on art and logic bugs to get ready for Beta week next week. (Beta is a decent, playable game build, but still has a lot of missing art or details to it.) Once we hit a Beta build it will get busy for me.

Random Picture of the Day: I have the feathered boa and feathers of shame from playing hackysack.
At the moment, I'm snooping through the latest game build files, and working on some merchandise things. What has been on my mind all day, though, is the music from Message in a Haunted Mansion, and wanting to play Treasure in the Royal Tower because it is winter-themed. Will you be replaying a Nancy Drew game this weekend?

Here's your weekend puzzle, good luck!

We also have a birthday!

Also, if you are in college, love Nancy Drew, and know how to edit videos...check this out.

Musical Fans

Hey all, I was out sick yesterday. :( But now I'm back a ready to dive into the latest Nancy Drew game we are currently working on.

While I get to see everything and play the game as we work on it, just about all of you are eagerly awaiting more information. Don't worry, we will hide clues here and there... and of course tease you as we go. Because we like to keep secrets. And... well... we also like to reveal our secrets, too! All in good time.

As many of our fans wait, they are enjoying the latest mystery and everything about it: The Silent Spy. Check out Samantha's fan video below. If you were not aware, you get a free digital copy of the sheet music to "Kate's Theme" track when you purchase The Silent Spy soundtrack. Samantha teaches you how to play it on the piano here:

Thanks for sharing this Samantha! This is my favorite track and someday would like to play this myself!

Interview with SPY Composer, Thomas Regin!

Today we posted this video interview of The Silent Spy's music composer, Thomas Regin! Check it out!

Have you played The Silent Spy? Or are you waiting for it arrive on the store shelves? Whether you are waiting to play the game or already have and enjoyed it, might I suggest the soundtrack available for download!

In case you weren't aware, when you purchase the digital soundtrack for SPY, you get a free pdf download of the sheet music for Kate's Theme, which is what you see and hear Nancy and Kate play on the piano together in the game. This is so you, too, can play along to Kate's music.

One of our fans awhile back posted a video of herself playing the music!

Looks like a few of you have successfully cracked the cipher! Simply shifting the alphabet 5 letters and replacing the letters I gave you will reveal the phrase ["Check the lockers."] This refers to SPY. (~.^)
We have some birthdays to celebrate!

Weekend Puzzle #215

Hooray for Friday! For those of you who pre-ordered, the physical copies should be arriving next week, and those who are getting digital...there are only four days left until you get to download your copy! Oh boy, this means my SPY secrets are going to be revealed soon! Well, I might as well make the most of what time I have left to tease you about it...

Here's your weekend brain-bender! Should be easy enough... XD

In the meantime, you could purchase the digital music of SPY here and listen to the game calling your name as you eagerly await its arrival... Ah, the sounds of spies and Scotland!

Also, if you have a question about the Nancy Drew Pumpkin Carving Contest, please read the details found on the Dare to Play Blog here.

SPY Sountrack Released! (And Puzzle #211)

The biggest news we have for your weekend is this: we have released The Silent Spy soundtrack! it is now available for digital purchase on our site, and with it we included the sheet music for the "Kate" theme for you to play along! (Piano recommended). Perhaps creating a tutorial video would be cool in the future...we'll see.

I'm really excited about it, because the "Kate" theme is the best music (I think) in the game...and it's a very touching song.

Music for Mysteries: Volume 5

I bet you weren't expected this, but here's what I've been hinting at this past week:

Now the music collection is complete! You can now order this music on our site! I'm looking forward to The Silent Spy's soundtrack in the future, now.

Check it out! We interviewed our very own Producer, Rob! I think he's tried some pretty crazy foods in his time!

Also, I'm afraid I'm going to have to tone down the amount of shout-outs I post. There have been a lot of requests lately, so I'm only taking birthday shout-outs in the future. Good luck to everyone going into school soon!

Haunting Songs

Have you listened to the music while playing Ghost of Thornton Hall? I think it's awesome, and since I have the soundtrack I get to listen to it on speakers just by itself, volume cranked up louder so I can fully appreciate the work and design that was put into the score.

If you'd like to get the digital download songs for yourself, you can order the soundtrack from our site here.

One of the best tracks is called "Sweet Charlotte" which is Charlotte singing her ghostly song. Here are the lyrics for you below:

Twitter Quote Contest is happening now! Head over to participate!

Who is Nancy Drew?

According to me, everyone who plays a Nancy Drew game can claim to be "Nancy Drew", since they take on her character role. Therefore, anybody can suddenly burst into this song that we posted a while back:

Due to several requests, we are posting the lyrics and chords! Perhaps this is your opportunity to perform for a YouTube video, yes? We'd love to see how many "Nancy Drew"s will sing this song!

Guitar Chords:
Capoed on 5: Am, E, F, G
With no capo: Em, B, C, D

"I'm Nancy Drew" song lyrics:

Verse 1
In my line of work it’s fun and games
when new mysteries come my way.
When friends need help, they call me in
So I can track down their dark villain.
At times the case usually seeks me out,
Trouble comes, what’s that about?
These things have logical explanations…
Let’s find them out cause I want my vacation!

Chorus
Add this to my resume,
I’m Nancy Drew, I hope you’ve heard of me.
I solve the case every time;
I find the treasure and stop all crime.
Don’t try to hide, ‘cause it won’t work.
I’m comin’ for ya, you dirty crook!

Verse 2
I’ve rescued friends, learned Morse code,
Frozen to death, and blew up a boat!
I’ve danced on stage, and climbed up cliffs,
Worn a disguise, and caught some fish.
When the truth gets close, the culprits get closer,
And danger lurks around every corner.
Snooping is my specialty,
Searching through stuff that doesn’t belong to me.

Chorus
Add this to my resume,
I’m Nancy Drew, I hope you’ve heard of me. (What?!)
I solve the case every time;
I find the treasure and stop all crime.
Don’t try to hide, ‘cause it won’t work.
I’m comin’ for ya, you dirty crook!

Verse 3
I’ve been shocked, stung, attacked and eaten,
Suffocated, drowned, poisoned, bitten,
Hit over the head a countless number of times,
But don’t worry, I always seem to be fine...
I’ve jet packed across the old country,
Can understand French, German, Italian and Cockney,
Snuck into meetings and into locked rooms,
But no matter where I go I can’t catch Sonny Joon!

Chorus
Add this to my resume,
I’m Nancy Drew, I hope you’ve heard of me. (What?!)
I solve the case every time;
I find the treasure and stop all crime.
Don’t try to hide, ‘cause it won’t work.
I’m comin’ for ya, you dirty crook!

Verse 4
Monsters and villains may try to stop me,
And ghosts and creatures aren’t THAT scary!
Reading my journal for clues and notes,
I’m packing my bags and grabbing my coat.
There may be tricks, troubles, and trials ahead,
But I get help from Bess, George and Ned.
Twenty-seven cases in my past I have solved,
Now I’m off to hunt the Ghost of Thornton Hall.

Chorus
Add this to my resume,
I’m Nancy Drew, I hope you’ve heard of me. (What?!)
I solve the case every time;
I find the treasure and stop all crime.
Don’t try to hide, ‘cause it won’t work.
I’m comin’ for ya, you dirty crook!

Hot Dogs, Music, and Videos! It's Wednesday!

What could be exciting about the middle day of the week? Here's how I look at it: If it's been a good week, we still have two more days to enjoy it's awesomeness! If it's been a rather tiresome week thus far, no worries, there are only a couple days left until the weekend.

This is the former kind of week. It's been awesome! But now there have been enough questions in the comments to the blog and on our social media channels that I was thinking that a Wednesday would be a grand day to address these.

First off, I had to share this with you: our Luncheoning group gathered today and went for a walk down the parking lot to the visiting hot dog cart, where we each got a fantastic hot dog! Although I don't normally go for this type of meal, it was good to mix things up for a bit and enjoy a classic lunch! My hot dog choice was this: basic dog with cream cheese, sweet chili sauce, green peppers and onions. Some other team members were more brave to get the Chipotle Chicken dogs...or whatever that spicy mayhem was!

As for the music video that went up yesterday, it was a collaboration between our Tech Girl, Marketing Director and I. I wrote the lyrics, edits were made by our Marketing Director and Tech Girl, our Tech Girl created the melody and played the guitar (and of course, sang it), I filmed and edited, and our Marketing Director posted to our YouTube channel. Ta-da! Teamwork.

Now for more important lyrics...

Many of you have tried identifying the lyrics to one of the more popular songs in the Ghost of Thornton Hall soundtrack (available here) called "Sweet Charlotte", sung by the ghost, but it's a little tough to hear these. Here are the correct lyrics:

"Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home
Your house is on fire, and your children are gone
All except one, sweet Charlotte Ann
And she hid under the frying pan"

Parts of this song will be heard in the official trailer, helping to make it extra creepy... Spoiler date! The trailer will be launched this Tuesday! Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube Channel!

Countdown to Pre-orders

Hey all! Unfortunately I was out sick yesterday (no joke!) and therefore your answer to the weekend puzzle had to be delayed until today. From the looks of it no one has reached the correct answer! *Gasp*! It appears that with less direction, these puzzles are more likely to stump you...hehe....now I know how to do it...

Brain-vexing aside, I really need to release the answer, because it will be given away soon, anyway. For those of you who would like to keep at, go ahead, I will put it all in spoiler code below for those who'd like to know.

To solve it, first take out the red letters in the poem.
Once you have those, [identify their value in the alphabet. Ex: A = 1, B = 2 and so on].
According to the directions provided, [add all these values together]. You should get this total: [45].
Now divide [this value by the number of words in this poem]. The math problem is this: [45 ÷ 5] = [9].

What this answer really means: [The official trailer will be release on April 9th, Tuesday. The same day we launch pre-orders.]

Woot! I've had my calendar marked for that day for a long time....(and today we are working on it)!

~Psych! We uploaded a different video today. Check it out! Can you tell we had a little fun?~

Also,
Head's up! New poll to your right!
