Secret Projects & Monday News

We have a large project we are working on today and tomorrow. I hope I get to share it with you in the next post! We need to make sure there are no further edits to it first...

Speaking of secret projects, I put a new image up on the merchandise store, but it is for only one specific item and size... for now, at least. I wonder if any of you would be curious enough to find it...?

Anyways, tomorrow we have the Twitter party! Will you be on Twitter then?

I hope you all had a fantastic Easter! I nearly forgot about the game I was to play over the weekend for the Nancy Drew marathon. Did anyone else play Danger by Design? I've got to finish it again soon, because The Captive Curse is next on my list!

As for the weekend puzzle, I obviously missed putting in one last name third from the bottom, which would have given you an "A". Here's the first step to solving the puzzle: The letters are [anagrams for character names. Unscramble the first set and second set (the first and last name)]. The finished list:
  • [Charlie Murphy (from MHM)
  • Guadalupe Comillo (From ICE)
  • Enrico Tazza (from VEN)
  • Mary Yazzi (from SHA)
  • Scott Varnell (from TOT)
  • John Grey (from TRN)
  • Jane Penvellyn (from CUR)
  • Jeff Akers (from DOG
  • Renate Stoller (from CAP)
  • Holt Scotto (from DDI)
  • Izzy Romero (from WAC)]
Once you have figured this out, you then [count how many letters from left to right, according to the number listed next to the name.] Your final answer (with my missing "A") is [Puzzle Palace], a reference to The Shattered Medallion.

Lastly, we have a birthday!

What Sonny Says...

Today we posted a photo on Facebook for another Caption Contest! Head over to our page and comment on the photo of me and Sonny with your most creative caption. The prize? A Flying Cow mug from our merchandise store:

Also, the other day we posted this Nancy Drew Moment:

Do you remember when you first stumbled upon Sonny's doodles, notes, and Koko Kringle bar wrappers?

We have a special invite for you, too, if you have a Twitter account:

The Pacific Run Field

Look what we revealed today! This is the field environment in The Shattered Medallion.

~Click on the image for a larger view~

A portion of this environment was used for inspiration on the cover art. That reminds me....as soon as I am finished working on the official trailer (which is releasing next Wednesday on April 15th), I should get to work on getting the cover art ready for the merchandise store. By the way, have you seen the new store design?

As for the weekend puzzle... it uses the Alt Code. You pretty much hold down the "alt" key on your PC keyboard and type in the number, then release the alt key. each time you enter a number, you get a character of some kind. Here is the complete answer ["Surprise! Your life is dangerous now!"] which is another direct quote from The Shattered Medallion.

News & Medallions

There is a lot going on this week at Her Interactive! We just finished the Caption Contest on Facebook (congrats to our winner, Avery!), and we are getting the product page ready for The Shattered Medallion. There is a lot to do!

Also, just a head's up: we will be working on the Message Boards between Wednesday, March 26th and Tuesday, April 1st. It will be back up on April 2nd. (It needed to get pushed back a day). So don't try to log in or post during this time...because it might not work for you.

Work has been slow on the trailer because we have been busy, and as soon as I'm finished with this blog post I will be getting right back to it!

Here's something else to keep in mind: this Friday through Sunday I will begin the Nancy Drew marathon by playing Treasure in the Royal Tower. If you do not have this game, you can order it in our store here. If you do have it, now is the time to install it and get it ready with your notebook and pencil (unless you have the game memorized and don't even need to take notes).

If you are a fan of TRT, I'd like to point out one of my favortist things in our Merchandise Store: The medallion images featured on the round ceramic ornaments! (I also added the purple one to represent Marie's favorite color. This way, you can purchase two ornaments and have a color on each side, getting all four for your collection.)

MED Desktop Icon

We have revealed the actual shattered medallion! Voila! It will also be the desktop icon. I need to remember to add this to the merchandise store in the near future. However, there are much more awesome images I will be adding to the store....next week. Likely Wednesday. One concept image is done. The second is still finishing up. trailer

Oh boy, we have a long list of things to get ready for, and I can't share with you most of it...but somewhere in this post I have hidden one other project I am about to start.

Oh hey! Have you signed up to receive our newsletters? I recommend it, especially if you are missing games from your mystery collection and want to know as soon as we start a big sale. *Wink*.

"The Captive Curse" Fans

Remember this fan here who made jewelry and a drawing of The Captive Curse? It turns out that she had made two of the necklaces...and sent me one with a lovely fan letter! Check it out!

I was SUPER excited to receive this amazing gift, and instantly showed it off to fellow team members and put it on. I also realized that I was wearing the Monster T-shirt from the shop (which is also available in our very own merchandise store if you so desire to get one). Here's my picture of excitement:

This is really inspiring! If any of you work on Nancy Drew art or see a location that looks like a Nancy Drew location, would you take a picture of it and share it with us? Post the pictures onto our Facebook wall!

Visiting

I visited the Her Interactive offices today. Just thought I'd visit them and thank them for sponsoring the next show. I showed my love by leaving everyone a few notes. Hopefully that will encourage them in the next few months to do more excellent work.

Anyways, Little Jackalope left her computer on. Looks like an easy hack. Her computer had this up on the screen:

The Flying Cow Productions

I fully approve! I may need to get a coffee mug so that I can totally own the look of importance. I like looking important. Plus I just like cows. And aliens. Aliens are great. Coffee is great.

There was something even better up on LJ's screen, something creepily UMAZING...and although it looked finished, I don't think she is going to upload it anytime soon. Her calendar has a few dates in February and March circled. Maybe I shouldn't say what it is...it could be a secret. I have a good reputation of keeping secrets.

Gotta go. Someone is approaching.

Flying Cow... From the Future

I thought a part of the preview for The Shattered Medallion had some fun art in it. For that reason alone, I thought it would be really cool to have that cow and alien in the merchandise store, especially on a t-shirt!

I'm in the early stages of gathering this art. Once I have it all, I will begin to format the image for every merchandise item in the store. I need to make sure the image will fit appropriately without getting cut off or blocked by holes in the cell phone cases, corner edges of the boxes, or can squeeze onto a bookmark, for example. It may take a while...

Pacific Run: New Zealand!

Check it out! We have released early art from The Shattered Medallion today in our merchandise store!

The official TV show logo, Pacific Run: New Zealand is now ready to be designed on T-shirts, posters, mugs and more. I'm planning on getting something for myself, too, but I can't decide on a silver water bottle or a T-shirt...

I already have a long list of other images I'm getting ready for the store. Most are from The Shattered Medallion and involve a lot of things I'm SUPER excited to put on T-shirts!

You'll just have to come back and see later what cool things we have hiding up our sleeves for the future!

We have some birthdays today!

Future Game & Past Game Art

Hooray for Mondays! Another week to do awesome things at Her Interactive has just begun. For me, this will be working on formatting this image below for the Merchandise store. (I'm almost done.)

I did get a little distracted hunting through old archive files. In which I found this awesome pencil sketch! Check it out, do you recognize this friendly face?

As for the weekend puzzle, simply use the [alt code] to discover the message. To do this, open up a document where you can type into it. Hold down the "Alt" key on your keyboard and type the number provided, then let go of the "Alt" key. You will get this answer: [Off limits area? Not to Nancy!]

We have a few weekend birthdays!

Weekend Puzzle #224

First things first: just giving you all a head's up about our message boards this weekend. Some minor maintenance will be happening on the boards for a bit, so the forums will be temporarily down. You won't see any changes at your end after the work is done, so no worries!

How's the start of your new year? Did you set any goals for yourself in 2014? I sure did. I like "goals" better than "resolutions". It feels less binding and more adventurous of a word. Anyways, I'd really want to add more images to the merchandise store! And make more videos for YouTube! And do...some...Nancy Drew...stuff...? We shall see! I know of many exciting things to look forward to, and here is a clue to one of them:

You sleuths are all pros by know, so solving this one should be a piece of cake! ;)

We have a few birthdays!

Cookies and Ornaments

I was out sick yesterday, and now I have returned to the office to open a newly arrived package containing a few of the prizes for the Cookie Contest winner. Take a look at how they turned out in real life!

I kind of want to get my own little Christmas Tree just so I can start a collection of the ornaments from the merchandise store. It would be a Nancy Drew-themed tree! Speaking of Christmas, it's only a week away! It sure is sneaking up fast! Are you ready for it? Perhaps we can get in the mood with playing snowy games like Treasure in the Royal Tower, The White Wolf of Icicle Creek or Warnings at Waverly Academy, and of course, baking holiday cookies (you only have 2 days left to enter!).

*Edited
I nearly forgot about the puzzle! It is a Drop Quote puzzle from a few of the recent games. Fill in the spaces on the grid with the letters (guess and check) to get the Quote said by Takae in Shadow at the Water's Edge: ["You just need to be patient and you need to learn to see more than you are used to seeing."] This is excellent advice for any detective! ;)

Gummy Bear Craze

Have you played The Deadly Device? (Excellent game because it's entirely indoors and there is snow outside, so it's a wintry type of game). One of our fans, Rozanna also created these for the cookie contest.

Of course I had to share it with you! Gummy bears are awesome!
It reminded me of this bag in our merchandise store:

Fan Letters and Items for Fans

Today I received a wonderful letter from a fan named Nina. I was very excited to receive it! The envelope had stickers (some were 3D!) and crayon art, and inside were fan doodles and many references to Nancy Drew games! I LOVED it! Check it out:

Also, for everyone who sent in fan mail to me this year and hadn't received anything in return, I will be sending you a letter in return. (Even if you mailed me 12 months ago...!)

Randomness: Here are all those medallion designs that you can create in the merchandise store! The ceramic ornaments (smooth and flat) are the closest thing to the real deal! Add these to your ultimate Nancy Drew collection!

We have a birthday!

Treasure in ... Your Home!

Have you entered the cookie contest? Last weekend we showed you the prizes for winning here:

Take a look at that! (I know, I'm still SUPER excited). One of the holiday ornaments (which are made of ceramic) are from Treasure in the Royal Tower! I pretty much added the three colored medallions from the game, but then I couldn't stop there. Since the ornaments are double-sided (you get to pick an image for the front and an image for the back) I also added Marie's favorite color: purple, to match the box art color. This way it seems more matching, I think.

You could also choose to purchase these medallion ornaments in our store here. One idea: buy two circle ornaments, on one ornament you could have the red and blue, the other could be purple and green, that way, you have all the colors. ;)

Looks like you all solved the weekend puzzle! Using semaphore flag code, you can decipher the little jackalopes to read [Bird names]. Which, as some of you did suspect, is not, in fact, a reference to SPY...

Also, I wanted to highlight some more awesome fan art sent in to feedback@herinteractive.com:

We have a birthday today!

Christmas Sale!

For those of you who like to collect the boxes to add to your shelf, the Nancy Drew games (all physical) are now on sale! Check it out below and shop here!

Also, we received an order from our merchandise store today. I got really excited and was thrilled to show off the Cathedral Logo mouse pad (in real life) to the very artist who made this for Ewan in The Silent Spy (in game):

Are there any items in the merchandise store that you would put on your wish list?

Weekend Puzzle #220

Late post tonight! This is because I have been working on another fun video. It involves a real-life secret compartment. (~.^) Keep an eye out for it this weekend, or possibly Monday, on our YouTube Channel.

It's a little early to say anything, a few of the environments for the next game have already been modeled! Of course, they aren't done, as the artists are still adding texture, lighting and placing the cameras to take navigational shots for our programmers to take and piece together. Also, some characters have already recorded some lines, and our character designer is about to begin the concept illustration of the most important character in the game. It's all so exciting to see a new game start to form!

I can't share any pictures with you at the moment, so I'm going to dig around for a different picture...
Oh look! More pictures to share of our merchandise:

Oh yeah, the puzzle should be around here somewhere...
