En Route

With all the hubbub around the Cover Contest, we've been thinking about packaging a lot... in particular, TOT. No, I don't have any concepts to show you just yet, sorry. :(
I would like to jaw a bit about an early aspect of the process, choosing a color.

For each game we pick a color to help reinforce thematic or artistic elements of the game. You'll notice that all of our other titles have borders that reflect one of these two items. What I'd like to know is what color you conjure when you think about Trail of the Twister.

Considering what you already know; (spoilers ahead) [ Oklahoma setting, tornadoes, sabotage... ] what color would you suggest for the game?

I'm thinking maybe a dark red; good compliment to a sunlit landscape (which are plentiful in the game's locale) plus you could tie in a nice passion/anger theme to compliment a motive for the crime. Send me your ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Hmm...perhaps a dusky, golden brownish color to go with maybe the agricultural surroundings...But I think a dark purple would really invoke the feeling of angry storm clouds. Thanks so much for asking!

for some reason when I think TOT, I think like a greenish color. Like a dark Chartreuseish color.

I'm thinking dark blue...when I think of Twisters, I think of lightning storms, dark skies, dark tornadoes...dark blue reminds me of a storm, I guess.

For some reason, until you brought it up I had assumed TOT would be a dusty orange. I don't actually like orange, so red is much better, it's one of my favourite colours. It also can be a very emotional colour, as you wisely pointed out. :) But waverly was kinda red-ish, wasn't it? So best not to repeat yourself. Maybe... I dunno, a blue for contrast? That would probably look strange, though.

Also, TOT makes me thibk of TATER TOTS.
Now punctuate each syllable of "tater tots" as if you were a machine gun, and you know how my friend sounds and why I find this so hilarious.

I was thinking a greenish yellow. Not sure why though.

When I think of Trail of the Twister, I tend to imagine the box having a dark brown theme.

Stormy blue, when I think of a cover for TOT I always picture a tornado. Stormy blue would look good if the backround and stuff was grayish. Just a thought.

Maybe more of a sandy color? Like super-dry dirt during a drought.

I would something like a combination of:
Dirty Yellow+Green
I dunno... It seems complemented with the game. It came to my mind when I watched the teaser trailer. =)
But it's okay if the banner color is not the one I wanted.

Orange, definitely.

The color that came to my mind from the preview at the end of WAV was the dark blue/grey of the sky before a storm.
But what do I know? I wouldn't have expected purple to be used in Legend of the Crystal Skull, but it works very well for the art in the game.

I think a dark green, like in the trailer at the end of WAC. I mean, WAC was already red, why do a repeat? ;)

dusky orange

For some reason, I was picturing it being yellow. But red sounds much better. Or maybe orange....

I've heard that before a tornado hits, the sky turns an almost green-ish color, so I was thinking a Chartruse color

I think maybe kind of a darker kind off muddy yellow to make it look kind of dusty. I think not to dark of a color because I don't really think of Oklahoma and tornados as dark and dreary really. I think a yellow color would go well with a gray tornado.

Thanks HR for letting me voice my opinion!

I was thinking a lime green and a dark blue would look nice. The blue would make it mysterious but the green would add some "Woohoo, Nancy's here!" to it. :)

you guys have already used the color red for danger by design. I think a brown color or gold would be better :/ just my opinion. lol

I'm thinking yellowish or greenish...dunno, just what I think...lol. Or even a slate blue. but you've used blue in a lot of games. Green hasn't been as frequent and yellow would be fabulous, kinda like a muddy yellow...just my thoughts.

i think like a dark caution strip yellow- a few shades of it not just one...

The sky seems to turn a dark greenish eerie color during a tornado.....so that's what I would picture is dark...ugly...greenish
