Another part of what I'm working on this week had me looking through Kate Drew's 3D model, particularly the sample models that our character designer creates for our animators:
Since there really aren't many descriptions in the Nancy Drew books to go off on, we were able to design Kate how we imagined her to be. We had a little fun! We won't be showing Nancy in our games, but we wanted to "show" what she could look like through how her mom appears -- although Kate is in her 30s here.Kate is pretty much a 30-year-old Nancy Drew. So to speak.
I have more close-ups of Kate coming soon! Or better yet, if you want to see her animated, play The Silent Spy!
Are you on Facebook? We have another caption contest starting today! Head over to participate for a chance to win a prize! (Contest ends Monday).

What IS that thing?! Mr. Skinbag.
I have seen many comments and questions about the critter seen in Ghost of Thornton. One of the "scares" in the Showroom is when a ugly-looking creature slides across the floor past you, or even at you.
This is a naked mole rat. A giant one. One of our artists, Filmer, had a lot of fun creating him. The artists lovingly called him "Mr. Skinbag" because he is hairless.
Honestly, whenever I see him scurry at me on the screen, off-screen I want to pick up my feet from the floor so that he won't escape the showroom by climbing up my legs. *Shudders*.
Hope that satisfies your curiosity! Haha, Mr. Skinbag...I still laugh at this odd little guy.

A Day for Secrets
Of course, I can't really share them with you. Today was a great day. Besides working on...well...work, I went and did some snooping and picture-taking. It's way too early to be talking about the next game, so it's hard to contain my excitement over what I found in my snooping.
Our designer had me try out a prototype of the end-game puzzle using some familiar toys, I spied a navigation map laid out on our lead tester's desk, nabbing a few cookies from production on my way out, and then I got to listen in on one of the character's dialogue sequences (we call them CALs, but that is an explanation for another time) that one of our animators was lip-syncing, the sun was out so the team went outside for a hackysack break, and lastly, I admired the work of someone's doodles on a white board. I wonder who did those? (>_>)
Yep, It was a great day at Her Interactive.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's contest on Facebook! ;)
