Looks like some of you took to your research, and great detective work, by the way, too! The few facts we know about Nancy's mom for certain in the books are these:
• Nancy's heritage is Scottish on her mom's side (Read The Clue of the Whistling Bagpipes)
• Nancy's mom's maiden name was Austin
• She died when Nancy was 10 (in the original blue books)
• She died when Nancy was 3 (in revised books)
• She died of an illness
• She died in a car crash
Since there are contradicting facts simply because of book revisions, I suppose you could say any of these above notes are true. This gave us freedom to choose one age, and one cause of death, as well as fill in all of the blank about her. I can't wait for you to see what we did in The Silent Spy! It's so cool!
Speaking of spies, we shared this Nancy Drew moment today. Getting a creepy phone call from a spy? Yeah. Totally normal!
We have a few small things to announce tomorrow, so come back and see what little news bits we have to share!

Just wanted to say that the art for SPY looks amazing, at least from the 2 photos I saw on the product page. It feels "Renaissance-like" or Greek or something like that. And the flashbacks sound awesome! I bet those will be one of my favorite parts of the game!
Thank you for the birthday shout-out! It looks awesome! I'm really glad to hear that HeR Interactive is using the books as reference, it shows that you guys really care. I wonder why her maiden name was revealed but not her first name.
Revised and original additions sometimes contradict each other. It's rather irritating sometimes, but at least you know that you can still read a lot more stories by the time you've wrapped up the originals and can move on to the revised versions…
I knew about most of these facts about Nancy's mom, except for the one about her maiden name. So - since the description of SPY says "nearly a decade ago," does this mean that in the games Nancy's mom died when she was 10? That would be good, because then Nancy would be able to remember her.
